Meet Jennifer Fitzhugh, Advocacy Consultant.
Jennifer is wonderful at helping families navigate school systems. She has helped Behavioral Innovations families provide medical necessity for leaving school in order to receive treatment, as well as aid in collaboration between Behavioral Innovations and school districts. She recently moved back to Texas and is available for any family in Texas that may need support.
Jennifer Fitzhugh M.Ed is a former Special Education teacher and administrator of 22 years. She earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education in 2011 and has been assisting families with the ARD process in public schools throughout Texas since 2013. She is the author of Seth’s Story: My Journey of Raising a Child with Special Needs. Jennifer is also the recipient of the 2015 Texas Parent to Parent Champion Parent Award as well as the 2017 Gordon Hartman Excellence in Caregiving Award.
Jennifer is married and has two wonderful children. Seth who is 24 and is diagnosed with Glucose Transporter Deficiency Syndrome Emma who is 19 and is attending Gallaudet University in Washington D.C.
Jennifer assists families by attending 504 meetings, ARD meetings, as well as teacher conferences to ensure that children with special needs are receiving their free and appropriate public education under IDEA.
Jennifer also reviews evaluations and paperwork for compliance as well as assists with resolution meetings, mediations and Due Process Hearings. She also provides presentations on a variety of special education topics throughout the state.
