At BI, we strive to provide the most comprehensive services possible that are designed to improve the quality of life of each of our clients. Adults that are impacted by varying disabilities often display challenging behaviors that interfere with their daily lives and ability to integrate in the community. We provide behavioral support services for agencies and organizations that serve these types of individuals (generally in an ICF or HCS capacity) through the use of a Functional Behavioral Assessment and subsequent treatment plan, development of the plan and monitoring.

FUNCTIONAL BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT

Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) is a term that refers to an approach to solving behavior problems that was derived from the science of behavior analysis. This unique approach can take many forms, but all share a common goal.  According to Horner and Carr (1997), that goal is to "identify the variables that reliably predict and maintain problem behavior" (p.84). At Behavioral innovations, we choose to employ scientifically validated, evidence based practices and we consider the functional behavioral assessment to be fundamental in the development of all our behavior support plans.

BEHAVIOR SUPPORT PLANS

We believe in building behavioral repertoires instead of eliminating them; therefore our behavior support plans are designed to reduce problem behaviors by replacing them with contextually appropriate, alternative responses. All procedures described in our behavior support plans are derived from functional behavioral assessments. Our behavior support plans are individualized, short and easy to read and they are monitored monthly, at a minimum, by a certified behavior analyst.
